This comes after a total of 59 Chinese made apps were banned in India. Pakistan too banned the game for a few days but after a meeting with game representatives they decided to reverse that order.
The main focus of this policy update is that data acquired by Indian users will be stored on servers located in India. Previously the data could be accessed by third parties but after the recent update it can only be processed in India.
With this update Indian users can now rest assured that their data is not being sent overseas or being sold to third parties.
PUBG Mobile has stated that they utilise third parties so as to provide the best possible experience which includes cloud services for data backup, support ticketing, and fraud detection as well. For more information head to this link

Even Tencent will have to change their future policies just to keep ahold of such a goose that lays golden eggs. In case of a ban its immense popularity can also lead to people protesting on the internet as was the case in Pakistan.
