Mobile Games To Check Out: Exploding Kittens
Exploding Kittens is an extremely fun card game that has been turned into an app. While the name does sound quite cruel and evil, it really isn’t. As you’ll soon find out, the true evil was within you all along. Exploding Kittens is Russian Roullete but with cards that are full of adorable cats and sometimes other cute creatures. Your task is to be the last person alive and to do that you might have to screw over your friends more than just a couple of times.
Exploding Kittens’ gameplay is quite simple and takes less than 5 minutes to understand. All the cards have their uses described perfectly so there’s never really any confusion. There’s a draw pile of cards kept face down that every player must draw from at the end of their turn. This draw pile contains multiple Exploding Kitten cards. If you draw that you must defuse it with the help of a Defuse card. If you don’t have a defuse card, say your final rights and prepare to lose. You can still screw with your friends though as you get to choose where to put the Exploding Kitten card that just caused your demise without your friends knowing. If you were lucky enough to have a defuse card, you can defuse it and then place the Exploding Kitten card in your preferred spot so that you can have the tactical advantage. Oh, and the mobile version has a percentage meter that shows the chances of drawing an Exploding Kitten card based on the number of cards left in the draw pile. Don’t depend on it too much though because it can lull you into a false sense of security. In case you’re still confused about how the game works, here’s a video by the creators themselves that explains it.
And that’s how simple the game really is. While it does seem luck based there are strategies that you can employ that maximizes the chance of other players picking up the Exploding Kitten card. I know this because my lovely friends are all strategic Gods and will ruin your life with the right set of cards. Things never really get boring because you can always use new packs to further enhance your “enjoyment” that will later turn wherever you are into a salt mine. Oh, and if your friends are “busy” and they can’t play with you, you can always join a random online lobby and play with strangers while spamming your characters voice options. They’ve also added a new single-player feature so you can play with the CPU to get a hang of the game or to just practice. This game is also cross-platform so you can play with your iPhone friends from your Android device or vice-versa and everybody can have a jolly good time. If you’re winning that is.
Seriously though, this is an extremely fun game that’s great at parties and during any sort of small downtime that can help liven things up and I highly recommend that you check it out and give the game a try.
