Battlefield V was one of the first games to get Ray Tracing technology implemented in it but suffered from massive drops in performance. Battlefield V’s new update aims to fix the performance issue with Ray Tracing.
This new update comes alongside Nvidia’s new driver release since both DICE and Nvidia worked closely to help iron out issues and increase performance. This new driver is optimized for Battlefield V and aims to deliver up to 50% performance boost when using Ray Tracing. The Overture update for Battlefield V will also feature optimization for the game which means that with the new driver and update, you should see a considerable increase in performance when using Ray Tracing.
Here is how Nvidia claims that the new driver and game update will perform:
- GeForce RTX 2080 Ti gamers will now be able to achieve 60+ FPS at 1440presolution with DXR Raytraced Reflections set to Ultra quality.
- GeForce RTX 2080 gamers will now be able to achieve 60+ FPS at 1440presolution with DXR Raytraced Reflections set to Medium quality.
- GeForce RTX 2070 gamers will now be able to achieve 60+ FPS at 1080presolution with DXR Raytraced Reflections set to Medium quality.
With these improvements, Nvidia has also stated that image quality will not be affected when it comes to the newer update and visual fidelity should still remain the same depending on what setting you use. DICE did previously say that they were exploring the idea of a more tunable settings options for Ray Tracing so that players could fine tune the specific settings to their liking while also being able to further increase performance when using Ray Tracing.
